In today's fast-paced world, the issue of mental health has become more prevalent and more pervasive, especially among youth aged 15-24. As people navigate through the challenges of this stage of life, it is essential to address and support their well-being, both mental and physical. It is in this age group that people are more likely to experience mental disorders and/or substance abuse than any other age group.

One initiative making strides in this area is a project called Step into Light that aims to shed light on the realities of mental health, particularly in boys and young men. This project, based in Montreal, has set out to raise awareness and funds for The Tide Project at the Montreal Douglas Institute, by climbing Mount Everest to its base camp. With the goal of demonstrating how one step makes all the difference, Matthew Turner is hoping to empower youths to take charge of their mental well-being. Together with sponsors, friends, and family, Matthew is creating a platform for open discussions about mental health issues, by breaking the stigma surrounding it.
By providing resources and support to The Tide Project at the Douglas Institute, he is equipping youths with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of mental health by finding the unique treatment that works for the individual. Through his awareness campaign and fundraising efforts, Matthew's efforts with Step into Light is not only bringing attention to the importance of destigmatising mental health, but also providing tangible support for those in need.
Every contribution goes a long way in making a difference in someone's well-being. As we come together to support this movement, we are not only empowering youths to step into the light of mental wellness but also creating a community that is compassionate, understanding, and supportive. Let's join hands and be a part of this journey towards a mentally healthier future for our youth.
